EXCELLENCE IN PRACTICE AWARD CRITERIA
A. PURPOSE:
To recognize an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary skill in practice and commitment in the promotion of dietetic professionals involved in integrative, functional and holistic medicine, nutritional genomics, whole foods, dietary supplements, and/or natural healing modalities.
B. ELIGIBILITY:
All active members in good standing with the American Dietetic Association and DIFM DPG. Exempt members are the following: previous winners of the Excellence in Practice Award and any current DIFM board member.
C. SELECTION PROCESS & CRITERIA:
1. Written nominations for the Excellence in Practice Award can be submitted by any member of DIFM, including one’s self with exception of exempt members (see above).
2. Nominees complete the Award Application and Biographical Form (see below), and submit these forms and their curriculum vitae to support their nomination.
3. Nominees will be considered for this award based on:
a. position(s) in integrative, functional and holistic medicine, nutritional genomics, whole foods, dietary supplements, and/or natural healing modalities.
b. demonstrated excellence in the field of integrative, functional and holistic medicine, nutritional genomics, whole foods, dietary supplements, and/or natural healing modalities as evidenced by work that is innovative, creative, and recognized as exemplary by professional peers.
c. participation in integrative, functional and holistic medicine, nutritional genomics, whole foods, dietary supplements, and/or natural healing modalities related activities such as volunteer work with DPGs and/or other organizations with a similar mission and vision of DIFM DPG.
d. major presentations, publications, and research in the areas of integrative, functional and holistic medicine, nutritional genomics, whole foods, dietary supplements, and/or natural healing modalities
D. ENTRY DEADLINE:
Final application and biographical information or curriculum vitae must be received by March 1, 2010. Selection will be made by March 31, 2010. The award recipient will be notified by email and announced in the summer newsletter. EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE AWARD CRITERIA

To recognize an individual who has demonstrated leadership and service as a member of the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine (DIFM) Dietetic Practice Group, is a leader in the profession, and has worked toward the promotion of dietetics professionals involved in integrative, functional and holistic medicine, nutritional genomics, whole foods, dietary supplements, and/or natural healing modalities.
B. ELIGIBILITY:
All active members in good standing with the American Dietetic Association and DIFM DPG. Exempt members are the following: previous winners of the Excellence in Service Award and any current DIFM board member.

c. involvement in other dietetic organizations, which highlight/promote the registered dietitian in integrative, functional and holistic medicine, nutritional genomics, whole foods, dietary supplements, and/or natural healing modalities.
d. demonstration of a leadership role in DIFM DPG
e. contributions to research in the area of integrative, functional and holistic medicine, nutritional genomics, whole foods, dietary supplements, and/or natural healing modalities.

STIPENDS
In an effort to encourage the DIFM DPG members to attend and participate in professional development meetings in the area of integrative, functional and holistic medicine, nutritional genomics, whole foods, dietary supplements, and natural healing modalities, two professional development stipends - reimbursement of expenses up to $100 - will be awarded to members of the DIFM DPG to attend professional meetings during the American Dietetic Association membership year.
